ABOUT MIA PHILLIPS

I'm a young Australian artist, born and bred on the east coast. Living respectfully on Bundjalung land, my life has been largely defined by endless coastlines and bush land.

Driven by the desire to create from an early age, my journey has led to a passion for oil painting and exploring the depths of oneself through art. Creation has always been a vital tool of expression for me in an attempt to decipher, overcome, and question many of life’s adversities.

THE ART.

Drawing inspiration from the world around her, Mia’s art is flooded by the natural beauty of her home. An obsessive love for all things ocean related is evident in her work, as she interlaces the beauty of the external world and the battles of the internal world, to create pieces rich in emotion and aesthetic.

'DIARIES OF THE TIDE'

Where art becomes life's rawest form of documentation.

THE STUDIO.

Mia works from her home studio, a reclaimed farm shed hidden in the hills of the Byron hinterland, surrounded by greenery and the odd chook or two, as she loses herself for hours in the process of creating.
